Much of MadGods inspiration is derived from the remnants of past culture. These veins of originality are no longer with us in the form of authentic style and rebellion that existed in the formative years of youth culture, music, skateboarding and the independent artist. Most only recognize the patterns left in the wake of original influence.

MadGods has always taken a fondness to the interpretation of our own subcultures by foreign voyeurs, more specifically, the methodical breakdown of western music and skateboarding imagery and styles by Japanese Otaku cool hunters at the turn of the millennium. Using this fondness as a filter of sorts, we touch on realms of thought that we once believed were slowly becoming extinct with a new generation of youth that don’t remember a world before the internet. Using a familiar aesthetic, we perfect the art of dressing sheep in wolf’s clothing.

MadGods and FurFaceBoy

November 4th, 2009

MG and FFBSo a couple of weeks back our very good friend and fellow designer Ha, creator of FurFaceBoy, drove down from Dallas to pay us a visit and do a little blog-documentation of MadGods. Click here to check out his blog article about us and to see the “I’m hungover —uggghhh” picture he took of me at the POOL trade show, where we met. Which he was nice enough to to post up on his blog for a second time.

Most of the stuff you wanna see and read will be on his blog but here’s a couple of pics I took whilst I played tour guide.

img_7107Said capitol building a little closer up.

img_7109In front of the capitol was a trio of Eastern European gals. With my encouragement Ha was able to get them to pose with some FFB memorabilia. As you can see, these girls came in an assortment of colors- something for everybody. Perfect covers as I’m convinced they are the offspring of cold war era “swallows” sent to do something naughty and sinister. Why else would they be at the capitol?

img_7118We went by MadGods HQ for a tour. This is what it looks like when we print our interior size labels.

img_7123And this is a strange picture of Bear Mai, the original FurFaceBoy, who is an incredibly old dog and well behaved house guest. Bear Mai is welcome to crash at the crib anytime. If you would like to see a “non -Jacob’s Ladder” picture of Bear Mai, please go check out FFB’s blog. Here’s a second chance.

///Speaking of Russians, I heard a rumor that Darren Aronofsky may be doing a modern American production of Lone Wolf and Cub. Hmm.
