Much of MadGods inspiration is derived from the remnants of past culture. These veins of originality are no longer with us in the form of authentic style and rebellion that existed in the formative years of youth culture, music, skateboarding and the independent artist. Most only recognize the patterns left in the wake of original influence.

MadGods has always taken a fondness to the interpretation of our own subcultures by foreign voyeurs, more specifically, the methodical breakdown of western music and skateboarding imagery and styles by Japanese Otaku cool hunters at the turn of the millennium. Using this fondness as a filter of sorts, we touch on realms of thought that we once believed were slowly becoming extinct with a new generation of youth that don’t remember a world before the internet. Using a familiar aesthetic, we perfect the art of dressing sheep in wolf’s clothing.

ReCap: DEAD PREZ

November 9th, 2009

img_0658Above is a photo CrayZWalz as he was getting ready to debut his 10 year old son during their set at the Dead Prez show I told you about a couple weeks back. I did not realize he would have a son performing with him so I did not bring them matching shirts, unfortunately. That woud have looked cool. The shirt on his head is Necessary Evil and his been getting a lot of play here lately on the blog. Here are some more pics from the show as well as a lot of hella old MadGods joints in the crowd.

img_0646Early in the day, Zeale32 stopped by the shop and copped some gear for the stage.

img_7138Highlighted in the front there is young Andre. He’s 10 and with a lesson during sound check with his father CRayzWalz, young Dre upped his Mic Control skills by 10 fold. Lessons such as holding the mic properly and never stopping the flow, directing your attention to the crowd and breathing from your center all helped to make the kids debut a real crowd pleaser. Here are some more shots of them together with DJ PNyce lending turntable support.

Somewhere between this pic and the start of DPZ set my camera stopped functioning so i did not get to take any shots of them on stage during their performance. M1 is supposed to hit me with some links to some pics though, so stay tuned for that.
