Much of MadGods inspiration is derived from the remnants of past culture. These veins of originality are no longer with us in the form of authentic style and rebellion that existed in the formative years of youth culture, music, skateboarding and the independent artist. Most only recognize the patterns left in the wake of original influence.

MadGods has always taken a fondness to the interpretation of our own subcultures by foreign voyeurs, more specifically, the methodical breakdown of western music and skateboarding imagery and styles by Japanese Otaku cool hunters at the turn of the millennium. Using this fondness as a filter of sorts, we touch on realms of thought that we once believed were slowly becoming extinct with a new generation of youth that don’t remember a world before the internet. Using a familiar aesthetic, we perfect the art of dressing sheep in wolf’s clothing.

SXSW 2010 ReCap: HumpityHumpDay

March 29th, 2010

And there it is. All big and music related just like SXSW. It’s Wednesday morning and cats are anxious to get to the shop and see what the new bus graphic looks like. The installers worked all night, through the morning and into the early afternoon to get the second wrap onto the bus. . The whole goal was to make the M stretch from top to bottom. If we could manage that we figured everything else would fall into place.  Scheduled departure is 6pm giving us some time to do some work around the shop as well as some time to kill.

Swapped out the Lemmy Banner for the MG standard.

MEGS

Our homegirl Melodee from Amsterdam stopped by the shop. She has a soulful hip hop group called La Melodia with long time producer and partner INT. The two of them and their photographer friend, Orville, would be our partners in crime for the whole week.

My man, Clifford, from  the historic Victory Grill hopped on. Also, Jim, owner of other Eastside establishments, the Red SCoot and the Longbranch came aboard to invite us to Thrasher Party the next day.

Wats Up!

I can’t remember these lovely ladies names but they were rolling with our boy Beef (pic forthcoming) as we rolled back over to the east side to check out the Fader Fort and a show at the Independent.

We ran into our boy Blake from Celebrity Coaches

He was tooling around in one of their latest additions to the company. A newly customized Mercedes Benz Sprinter. I’ve been to many cities inside of one of these things and this is the nicest one i’ve ever seen. The pics do no justice. This thing has hardwood floors, leather captains chairs through out and all the electronic crap you could possibly fit into such a vehicle.

But I’m still partial to the official.

Wednesday is a slower day during SXSW, between the end of the Interactive conference and the beginning of Music conference so stay tuned for the weekend recaps. I got shirts to print over here.
