Much of MadGods inspiration is derived from the remnants of past culture. These veins of originality are no longer with us in the form of authentic style and rebellion that existed in the formative years of youth culture, music, skateboarding and the independent artist. Most only recognize the patterns left in the wake of original influence.

MadGods has always taken a fondness to the interpretation of our own subcultures by foreign voyeurs, more specifically, the methodical breakdown of western music and skateboarding imagery and styles by Japanese Otaku cool hunters at the turn of the millennium. Using this fondness as a filter of sorts, we touch on realms of thought that we once believed were slowly becoming extinct with a new generation of youth that don’t remember a world before the internet. Using a familiar aesthetic, we perfect the art of dressing sheep in wolf’s clothing.

A little perspective on SOLAR aka John B. Mosher

April 25th, 2010

” Fear not sons and daughters of Hip Hop.  Be not dismayed by the plastic posed screw faces and tough talk of deceivers and sorcerers, who on their day of judgment shall receive a most grievous chastisement!”

On June 14th 2004, in the alley behind the Astoria club in London, while in the employ of Guru Productions as “Road Manager”, this so called man of honor, John B. Mosher aka Solar indirectly challenged me to some fisticuffs, by saying and I quote, ” I’m going to fuck somebody up out here!”

When I directly and immediately stepped to him to mop the floor with his face…

This cookie puss cake raaaaaaann!!!

He ran like Sea Biscuit out the gate at the triple crown…

He ran like Derek Jeter around second base…

He ran like Akira Kurasawa’s movie “RAN”…(real long)

End of story.

Hip Hop, this is my gift to you.  R.I. P. Guru, my nigga!

I,  B. “Jabbar” Sheffield wrote this..

This story is the gift that keeps on giving, so send this to whomever it may concern.

This post is a message to the world from my good friend. For years
he has been telling me stories about being Guru's road manager for
several tours until, during a European tour, dealing with Solar
became too much. The story is hilarious until you consider how it
relates to the current situation regarding Keith Elam's passing.
Over the weekend, my man just couldn't hold it in anymore and sent
out the above message in a mass email. Days earlier he sent me the
passport scan. Guru and Gangstarr have been a major influence in my
life personally and to many of my closest friends, as if being a
Gangstarr fan is a social litmus test. The original logo for MadGods
is based on the 8 Pointed "Star of Power" Gangstarr logo. DJ Premo
and I share the same name, home state and love for music. Ex to the
Next is the most memorable anthem and lyric sourced life lesson of
my highschool years. And with HipHopMecca, I even helped make
February 16th GURU DAY in Austin!?! GURU's legacy has connected to
my life through several events and relationships so I feel compelled
to partake in setting things straight if possible. The reason for the
posting of Keith Elam's passport is to:
A:lend authenticity to the source/authors professional relationship
as tour manager.(he would need to have this record)
B: and more importantly to address all the different ages put out on
the internet for GURU. And perhaps, culturally speaking, Guru was a
different bithday/age than what  this says, but this post is just
to set the record straight...
REST IN PEACE GURU!

Chorus:

Above the crowds, above the clouds where the sounds are original
Infinite skills create miracles
Warrior spiritual -- above the clouds
reigning/raining down, holdin it down
