Much of MadGods inspiration is derived from the remnants of past culture. These veins of originality are no longer with us in the form of authentic style and rebellion that existed in the formative years of youth culture, music, skateboarding and the independent artist. Most only recognize the patterns left in the wake of original influence.

MadGods has always taken a fondness to the interpretation of our own subcultures by foreign voyeurs, more specifically, the methodical breakdown of western music and skateboarding imagery and styles by Japanese Otaku cool hunters at the turn of the millennium. Using this fondness as a filter of sorts, we touch on realms of thought that we once believed were slowly becoming extinct with a new generation of youth that don’t remember a world before the internet. Using a familiar aesthetic, we perfect the art of dressing sheep in wolf’s clothing.

THIS is a very important post.

Austin, Texas Hip Hop has been getting more interesting lately. A more mature sound has been evolving here in the last decade. A sound I like to call the !35 sound. It’s basically part Soulquarian/part ScrewedUpClick,  all Texas, all the time, allready. And now within the space of a week I’ve received 3 links to locally shot Hip Hop vidz that I think capture the area’s vibe. Since I got 3 brand new videos i’m doing an ATX Hip Hop video trio: In this selection of videos we have a quartet who are from here, continue to grow here, spread roots and branches like a great oak here (my boy MIRAGE and his crew the GUUD), we have a soloist who came down from up the road, lived and wrecked it here for a decade and has since moved on- but will surely return a better man and artist (Bavu Blakes) and we have an MC/DJ duo who aren’t from here, they just came to visit, but were so affected by the scene here they had to reciprocate the love and hospitality in their video (LA Melodia). So, here we go…
