Much of MadGods inspiration is derived from the remnants of past culture. These veins of originality are no longer with us in the form of authentic style and rebellion that existed in the formative years of youth culture, music, skateboarding and the independent artist. Most only recognize the patterns left in the wake of original influence.

MadGods has always taken a fondness to the interpretation of our own subcultures by foreign voyeurs, more specifically, the methodical breakdown of western music and skateboarding imagery and styles by Japanese Otaku cool hunters at the turn of the millennium. Using this fondness as a filter of sorts, we touch on realms of thought that we once believed were slowly becoming extinct with a new generation of youth that don’t remember a world before the internet. Using a familiar aesthetic, we perfect the art of dressing sheep in wolf’s clothing.

WORD POWER LIFE

May 28th, 2010

Talking about Austin Hip Hop… I should let you know about the new wonduh twanz dropping a release here on June 1st.  Long time Austin head, Arson Optics, whose been hard at work from coast to coast getting his adult life on,  has produced a new project entitled WORD POWER LIFE  with MC cohort Kaizen. Both these guys hail from the the extended Melodic Science family that gave us The GUUD.

AO is well known around the town for beats and rhymes going back to when he was a very young head. Dood has almost grown up on record. Combine his soulful beats with the classic MC sensibilities of partner in crime Kaizen and that’s how you get Word Power Life. Kaizen was described by the Austin Chronicle as “Austin’s Dark Horse”.  Okay, I mean I hang out with dood all the time and everytime I hear a song of his come out the speakers I forget it’s him that spit that shit cuz he’s like unassuming in real life and on record it’s not like that. Is that the definition of dark horse? Word. Power. Life.
