MadGods y Peligrosa: Europa MMXIII Iberia pt. I
by MG001 September 6th, 2013DJ’s Orion and King Louie of the infamous Austin, Texas PELIGROSA sound crew toured Europe this summer and StudioMG rode along to document. This essay shows a photo series of week one in Spain.
The tour began upon arrival in Barcelona at the NASTY MONDAY‘s hosted party Nasty Bass, inside Sala Apolo, with our host’s DJ Kosmos and Ginebra of Tracy Recordings. The evening turned into a break-a-dawn set with Peligrosa performing in duo mode in front of an energized crowd of 500 plus hardcore party people who weren’t disappointed. They were actually kinda impressed. Special gracias goes out to dat boy Chino, who held down the visuals for the night, and all the cool folks backstage, onstage and most definitely in front of the stage.
With the mid week free of gigs we ventured by bus to Basque country spending time with our longtime homie BTOKS DRIFT at his casa in Hondarribia. Nestled between the European food mecca of San Sebastian/Donostia and Irun, along the postcard perfect Spanish coast, our host provided us with a cross Txingudi Bay view of Hendaye, France and short walks to primo playa’s and rocky seacliff vistas- completely free of foreign tourists. Super chiiiiillll.
After a couple off days filled with home cooked Basque cuisine, beaches, skating, legal weed smoking and generally experiencing Spain as Spaniards would, we returned to Barcelona for a late night Sabado gig at the mega disco tech BLVD. in La Rambla. Peligrosa was featured at the top floor party BLACKLIST hosted by NOSSA music crew with Orion and Louie rotating eclectic open format bass sets with a worldwide selection of Nossa certified DJ’s; KASSIANO (Brazil), JOKKO (Sweden) and SUJINHO (NYC). Once again seeing the sun rise, we raced from the club to airport to catch our flight departing the Iberian peninsula.
Enjoy the photos, cabrones.
IBERIA TRAVEL TIPS:
1. When in BCN go to Rosa Negra for the best michelada‘s outside the America’s.
2. If La Rambla gets to be too much or if you get tired of traditional Spanish cuisine go to the El Born barrio and try some Argentinian inspired food at Morelia.
3. If you ever make it to Hondarribia on a Wednesday between 8:00-13:00 go to the farmers market at Damarri Plaza for the best bread in Europe.
