Much of MadGods inspiration is derived from the remnants of past culture. These veins of originality are no longer with us in the form of authentic style and rebellion that existed in the formative years of youth culture, music, skateboarding and the independent artist. Most only recognize the patterns left in the wake of original influence.

MadGods has always taken a fondness to the interpretation of our own subcultures by foreign voyeurs, more specifically, the methodical breakdown of western music and skateboarding imagery and styles by Japanese Otaku cool hunters at the turn of the millennium. Using this fondness as a filter of sorts, we touch on realms of thought that we once believed were slowly becoming extinct with a new generation of youth that don’t remember a world before the internet. Using a familiar aesthetic, we perfect the art of dressing sheep in wolf’s clothing.

December 14th, 2011

Come join us in Dallas this Saturday for the opening party of the latest exhibitions at the Dallas Contemporary Gallery. Our boy FAILURE has a 155 foot installation of his latest prints and throw ups and we’ll be helping to celebrate by pulling a 16′ truck right up to the loading dock for the latest MadGods PoP uP shop. Open to the public from 9-midnight. The exhibition will also be featuring a major 2 room exhibition of Rob Priutt’s amazing work and a mixed multimedia installation from David Jablonowski. Follow the link to preview the installation or come party with us on Saturday to experience the finished product.

Kyoto-shi pt.3 Mariko

December 7th, 2011

The beautiful and lovely Mariko took us to the top of the Royal Kyoto Building for this set of pics featuring our Mis-Fortune Cat shirt designed by FERG.

A total trooper she braved the chill of an autumn night in Kyoto to make this happen.
